Summer reflections...

So this summer was a very long, skint and boring one!

It was mainly spent scraping my pennies together to save for a bed for my new house from working a few hours a week in a club in my hometown of Dartford, Kent. As well as occasionally getting a 2hour sweaty bus to Chelmsford, Essex to see my boyfriend (he did travel to me too, we took turns) and selling my childhood away at bootfairs!! From which I made £110! Not bad..

My artwork however, did suffer, not having any money is not very motivating but I did manage to get some good sketching done aswell as a few small paintings (mainly watercolour). I salvaged enough 'pocket money' to take one trip up to London with my mother, she appreciates art but is not an artist herself so at times it would be quite frustrating to explain how exhibitions work ect. but at the same time it was nice to share this knowledge of the 'system' within the artworld that I've always known due to being around it since school and never left - so I do tend to take that knowledge for granted.

So, summer taught me that to be motivated, I need to keep active so joining a gym or doing a work out dvd would benefit me better next time! Well, it works for me anyway.

Bring on Year 2!
